What Causes Damp In Buildings?

There are a variety of reasons why your basement might be damp. However, the most frequent causes are:

Rising damp

When water rises up through the bricks and mortar of a structure by capillary action due to ground water. This happens frequently after a building’s foundations have been damaged.

Incorrectly installed damp proof course
